The Upper East Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, has restated his commitment to working with the Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to increase the fortunes of the party in the region.
Acknowledging the current distribution of parliamentary seats in the region as imbalanced against the NPP, he stated the party’s strategic goal of securing more seats in upcoming elections, stressing that one out of fifteen seats in the region isn’t the best.
Currently, the NPP has only one parliamentary seat; the Binduri seat held by Abdulai Abanga.
In an exclusive interview with A1 Radio on Tuesday, July 9th, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, the Upper East Regional Minister, delved into various political and developmental issues.
In pursuit of this objective, Dr. Bin Salih underscored the importance of expanding the party’s support base. “We have to go out there and fish for more souls to join the NPP,” he asserted.
Despite his dedication to the NPP’s cause, Dr. Bin Salih advocated for a spirit of inclusivity and engagement with opposition parties. “We shouldn’t distance ourselves from the opposition,” he remarked, emphasizing the need for constructive dialogue and collaboration in the political landscape of the Upper East Region.
Reflecting on the broader political landscape, Dr. Bin Salih tempered expectations about the upcoming elections, cautioning that “one election cannot grant us majority seats in the region.”
Turning to national politics, he expressed confidence in the current Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s prospects for assuming the presidency in the future. He praised the Vice President’s competence and contributions to the success of the current government, highlighting his belief that the Vice President “has what it takes to become the president.”
He stated emphatically that the Vice President is not corrupt, affirming his trust in the Vice President’s integrity and suitability for higher office.
