The Upper West Regional Youth Resource Centre has been completed and is awaiting commissioning. The project was completed due to continuous pressure from the people of the region and leadership of the region.
This is according to the former Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih.
The same, however, cannot be said for the Upper East Regional Youth Resource Centre. The completion date of the project remains unknown.
Construction of the youth resource centers started in 2018 and was expected to be completed by 2019.
According to the now Upper East Regional Minister, transferred from the Upper West Region, the lack of proper leadership is why the facility is yet to be completed.
He said, “Leadership is very important. I’m here, and I don’t hear anything. I’m yet to visit that facility, the Youth Resource Center. I understand it’s in Navrongo. Because of the push, the one in Wa is due for commissioning. Because of pressure upon pressure upon pressure that we put on the contractor, that project has been executed.”
“The cycling plant in Upper West has been commissioned. We started it. I went there with His Excellency the President to cut sod for its commencement. It is complete. The President came there to commission it. As for the Upper East, it is only now that they are bringing the contractor who worked on the Wa project to come here and do it. For me, I’ve always indicated I am not an office minister.”
