During his National Campaign tour to the Upper East Region, former President John Dramani Mahama assured the people of Bawku that he would be the beacon of peace, promising to ensure tranquility prevails in the area if he is elected in the upcoming December 7th elections.

Addressing a large crowd at the Zug-Raan Palace, Mr. Mahama emphasized the critical link between peace and development.

“When there is peace, there is usually progress and development,” he stated. “I will ensure that the people of Bawku experience growth and development through the restoration of peace.”

Mr. Mahama acknowledged the prolonged disturbances that have plagued Bawku, noting that these disruptions have significantly hindered the area’s development, depriving Bawku of the prosperity it deserves.

He stressed the importance of stability in fostering economic growth and improving the quality of life for residents.

The former president outlined his vision for Bawku, which includes comprehensive measures to restore and maintain peace.

This, he said, would involve engaging with community leaders, investing in local infrastructure, and creating opportunities for youth and women. He further noted that these steps are essential to breaking the cycle of violence and fostering a sustainable environment for progress.
