The Deputy National Youth Organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Osman Ayariga, has endorsed the call for the creation of a new region for the people of Bawku.
Lawyer Ayariga believes that the establishment of a new region will catalyze development and generate employment opportunities in the area.
In an interview with our reporter during the NDC’s National Campaign Tour in the Upper East Region, the organizer emphasized that the request made by the Bawku Naba, Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, is constitutionally valid. He, however, noted that the only requirement is a feasibility study to confirm the area’s qualifications for regional status.
“The demand for a new region is not out of place. It is a constitutional right, and the feasibility study will determine the practicality of this request,” he explained. He stressed that the creation of a new region would bring significant benefits to Bawku, including improved infrastructure, better access to social services, and job creation.
The request for a new region has also received a positive response from John Mahama, the NDC’s presidential candidate. During his visit to Bawku, Mahama assured the people that, if elected as president, he would work towards making the new region a reality.
“I am committed to ensuring that the people of Bawku get the development they deserve. Creating a new region will be a key part of our development agenda,” Mahama stated.
