President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to addressing the developmental challenges in the Upper East Region, despite the region’s history of not voting massively for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking at the commissioning of Phase 3 of the Upper East Regional Hospital rehabilitation project, President Akufo-Addo urged residents to vote for the NPP in the upcoming December 7th elections. He emphasized that his administration’s focus is on improving the lives of all Ghanaians, regardless of their political affiliations.
The Upper East Regional Hospital rehabilitation project has been a long-term initiative, spanning multiple administrations. Funded by the Saudi Fund for Development, the project began in 1999. The first phase was initiated in 2008 under former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s government. The second phase followed in 2015 under the Mills/Mahama administration. Now, in 2024, the third phase has been completed under President Akufo-Addo’s leadership, marking a significant milestone in the hospital’s development.
Phase 3 of the project includes several critical facilities that will significantly enhance the hospital’s overall functionality. These facilities comprise a modern mortuary block, accommodation for doctors, a relative hostel, and a medical gas building. Additionally, the hospital now features a comprehensive fence wall, a state-of-the-art kitchen, a Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), and a laundry facility.
The completion of this phase represents a major advancement in healthcare infrastructure in the Upper East Region, ensuring that residents have access to improved medical services and facilities.
