CHIANA/PAGA: NDC Youth Call For Sack Of DCE

Some youth of the ruling National Democratic Congress in the Chiana/Paga constituency of the Upper East region have called on President Mahama to sack immediately the District Chief Executive for the Kasena Nankana District Hon. George Nontera.

The youth among others accused the DCE of showing gross disrespect and total neglect to the party in the constituency. In a statement issued Tuesday, the youth group said “It is noteworthy that the incumbent DCE does not involve the party in the commissioning and inauguration of projects and this does not foster unity within the party,”   an act, according to the youth contributed to a divided NDC in the area.

The statement further alleged that the DCE who was supposed to play a neutral role in the party’s parliamentary primary held recently in the constituency was seen openly supporting a particular candidate.

“This has further polarized and deepened an already simmering and potentially explosive situation. Our question is how are we going to forge ahead in unity towards the 7 December polls with such a fragmented front induced by the actions and inactions of the DCE.”

The former educationist before he won the favor of members of the assembly as chief executive of the district suffered rejection from the assembly members.

The statement signed by the youth chairman, Hajj Seidu Suleman added that “unpopular” Nonterah who was “smuggled in as the DCE” of the area is “inept and appears quite incapable of executing the responsibilities of his office.”

The DCE when contacted at the time of filing this report declined to respond to the allegations.

Below is the full statement

THE PRESENT DCE DESERVES THE SACK. – NDC Youth of Chiana-Paga Constituency.

We, the NDC Youth of Chiana/Paga Constituency are of the well-considered opinion that in the interest of the unity of the party and in the interest of the District the present District Chief Executive must be relieved of his job.
Permit us to state without mincing words that right from the onset the name of the present DCE was not among the three shortlisted potential DCE’s, so how he got smuggled in as the DCE still remains a mystery and a source of concern to all. To add insults to injury he is inept and appears quite incapable of executing the responsibilities of his office. Frankly, he seems to be overcome by age.

It is significant to throw more light on the circumstances surrounding his elevation to the office of DCE. When he was first brought for approval before the assembly men he was roundly rejected. He was also rejected at his second appearance. It had to take a dismissal of all the government appointee assembly men and the swearing in of new members all within a day to get him approved. A clear indication of his unpopularity.

It is noteworthy that the incumbent DCE does not involve the party in the commissioning and inauguration of projects and this does not foster unity within the party.
Moreover, in the just-held parliamentary primaries he was seen openly campaigning for one of the aspirant in the race. This has further polarized and deepened an already simmering and potentially explosive situation. Our question is how are we going to forge ahead in unity towards the 7 December polls with such a fragmented front induced by the actions and inactions of the DCE.

It is also instructive to note that not only is he indifferent towards the plight and predicament of the party but also does not care a hoot about the development of the District.

All the foregoing is a lighter Cross to carry compared to the fact that the present DCE resigned as a party chairman and refused to involve himself in the activities of the party when we were in opposition.

In conclusion, there is nothing to lose as a party in terminating the appointment of an incompetent and clueless DCE but all to lose by maintaining him. NDC forever!
