A member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Upper East Regional Communication Team, Johnson Ayine, says he is confident in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s ability to lead the NPP to victory in the 2028 general elections.

Speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show, Mr. Ayine said Dr. Bawumia’s ideas and policies continue to shape Ghana’s governance and development agenda, even beyond his tenure as Vice President. He noted that many of Dr. Bawumia’s digital and economic initiatives have been widely embraced by the government and the Ghanaian public, proof, he said, of the NPP flagbearer’s forward-thinking leadership.

“Looking at things and the atmosphere, Ghanaians will be looking at Dr. Bawumia to come back, rescue this country, and continue to propel development,” Mr. Ayine stated. “The enabling blocks that will drive Ghana’s progress lie in the wisdom of Dr. Bawumia. There is no doubt about that. Even now, people are beginning to appreciate some of the ideas he brought on board.”

He explained that Dr. Bawumia’s pre-election tours across all 275 constituencies are part of efforts to reconnect with citizens, understand their concerns, and reassert his vision for inclusive national development.

Mr. Ayine added that since the NPP’s electoral defeat, Ghana’s digital transformation efforts have slowed significantly. “Every day, we were experiencing new forms of digital applications in our lives — from the e-pharmacy to hospital digitalisation, Ghana.gov, and GhanaPost GPS. Today, that progress seems to have stalled,” he lamented.

He reiterated that Dr. Bawumia’s return to power would reignite Ghana’s digital and economic transformation, restoring confidence and momentum in the country’s development agenda.
