NAVRONGO: PPP Candidate Accuses Woyongo of Votes Buying

Parliamentary Candidate of the Progressive Peoples Party in the Navrongo Central Constituency, Suzanna Kuberizegah has alleged that the National Democratic Congress in the constituency have resorted to vote buying leading up to the December polls.

According to her, the incumbent Member of Parliament Hon. Mark Woyongo has started distributing items including motor bikes, cloth, gas cookers and cylinders and other material wares to entice the constituents to vote for him after disappointing them during his tenure.

“They are distributing motors. At first they said it was for their campaign team but you know I can say on record that they have distributed about three hundred motors. At first they said it was for their campaign team but tell me, which political party forms a campaign team if 300 people? It is not only motors they are sharing, bicycles, cylinders, cloth, gas cookers to buy the Peoples conscience,” she alleged.

On whether she had evidence to back her claims, Ms. Suzanna mentioned that “any time we go to the constituents they tell us that yesterday they came here and gave us this and that to vote for them.”

She alleged that the NDC in the previous elections cajoled constituents to vote for them by making them swear an oath by the gods of their land before they distributed the materials to them; something she believes gave them victory and was of the view that a similar thing will happen this year.

“In the last election, the NDC before the day of election moved from house to house with envelopes with fat monies and individual constituents were asked to swear to vote for them before they give them the money. That was the strategy they used the last time to unseat the NPP and they will use that strategy this year to.”

“When they bring the money and other things, collect them because the money is yours. Those who are confident enough too should tell them that with the number of years they have been in power and have failed to develop your constituency, they should add all those monies and give it to you. When they ask you to swear, boldly tell them to also swear before that all the things they have promised to do for Navrongo they will do it or else they should die first,” a very emotional Susana told a1radioonline.com.
