Minister of Education Haruna Iddrisu has reaffirmed the Mahama administration’s commitment to completing all inherited and ongoing education projects across the country, in line with the constitutional directive promoting continuity in governance.

Mr. Iddrisu made the remarks after a working visit to the Northern and Savannah Regions on Saturday, November 1, 2025, where he joined the chiefs and people of Bimbilla in the Nanumba North Municipality and Salaga in the East Gonja Municipality for a series of education-related events.

“I had the privilege of joining the chiefs and people of Bimbilla and Salaga for a matter of national importance that reflects our collective commitment to transforming education in Ghana,” the minister wrote on his official Facebook page on Sunday.

In Bimbilla, the minister commissioned a newly constructed two-storey girls’ dormitory funded by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC). The project, which began under a previous administration, was completed under President John Dramani Mahama’s government.

“President Mahama is committed to finishing all inherited projects according to the directive principles of state policy, Article 35(7), Chapter 6 of the 1992 Constitution,” Mr. Iddrisu stated, referencing the clause that mandates successive governments to continue and complete projects initiated by their predecessors.

He later proceeded to Salaga, where he cut the sod for the construction of a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centre of Excellence. The facility, once completed, will serve as a hub for modern, industry-relevant skills training for young people across the Savannah Region.

“These projects underscore the unwavering dedication of the government of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to completing all ongoing and abandoned projects while introducing new initiatives that expand access and improve quality,” Mr. Iddrisu emphasized.

The minister further revealed that a dedicated TVET Fund and a comprehensive National TVET Policy were nearing approval to ensure sustainable financing and stronger collaboration between training institutions and industry.

Under what he described as President Mahama’s “Reset Agenda,” Mr. Iddrisu said the government was “restoring hope, rebuilding confidence, and creating a resilient economy that benefits everyone.”

“At the heart of this vision is our commitment to equipping the youth with the technical skills, creativity, and innovation needed to power a 24-hour economy built on productivity and decent work,” he added.

Mr. Iddrisu concluded his tour at T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, where he interacted with management, staff, and students to identify the school’s most pressing challenges and explore possible areas of support.

“Together, we are building a future where skills, innovation, and opportunity drive Ghana’s inclusive growth,” he affirmed.
