The fourth edition of the Frafra Unity Inter-Community Football Tournament is set to begin on December 17 and will run through January 2, 2026.
This year’s competition will bring together 21 communities at the Bolgatanga Mobil Astro Turf as they compete for top honours and bragging rights.
Tanzui, Tindonsobligo and Bolga-Soe previously won the tournament in 2021, 2022 and 2024 respectively. The tournament was canceled in 2023.
For the first time, three Zongo communities—Majeema, Zongo and Kotokoli-Zongo—have been approved to participate after years of expressing interest. Their inclusion was confirmed during meetings held by the Frafra Games leadership.
Organizers say they have engaged participating communities in a series of meetings to address issues identified in past editions. They urged teams to prioritise unity, discipline and fair play over an excessive desire to win.
This year’s champion will take home a trophy, GH¢3,000 and gold medals. The second-place team will receive GH¢2,000 and silver medals.
Awards will also be presented for Best Player, Top Scorer, Best Goalkeeper, Most Promising Player, Best Coach and Most Behaved Community. Each awardee will receive a plaque.
In addition, all participating communities will receive a new set of jerseys and a football.
