Public Relations Officer for the association of citizens from Bolgatanga, Nabdam, Bongo and Tongo (BONABOTO), Stanley Abopam has said the association expects President-elect Nana Akuffo Addo to deal with as a matter of urgency issues of feeding grant which is affecting Senior High Schools education in the three Northern Regions.

The issue of school feeding has been at the center of discussions in the three Northern regions because the government of the National Democratic Congress has failed to release the grants for the various Senior High Schools for almost two academic years.

The failure of government to release these funds for the students forced Heads of the various institutions to deny students who could not pay their fees at the beginning of this term entry to the dining halls because the fees paid are currently being used to feed them.

Students also have to feed on the meager grocery their parents provided for them when coming to school. Although President John Dramani Mahama had the opportunity to address the issue during his tour of the region, he failed to answer questions with regards to the issue although it came up wherever he went.

But speaking on Bolgatanga based A1Radio, Stanley Abopam mentioned that BONABOTO expects the Nana Akufo-Addo administration to immediately release funds to pay for feeding grants of Senior High School students in the three Northern Regions.

He noted that the Vice President-elect, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during his campaign tour of the Upper East Region indicated that an NPP Government will not delay the release of feeding grants, so this is the time he has to prove that he did not say it just to win votes.

Stanley Abopam called for a well fashioned out plan to raise funds for the feeding grants rather continue with the adhoc ways of getting funds in the past which has failed woefully.

On the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), Stanley Abopam underscored the need for the government of the Nana Akufo-Addo to maintain the authority in order for it to work at bridging the gap between the North and the South.

He noted that the current SADA administration had put various measures in place to ensure that resources in the Northern Ecological zones are optimized in order to help in fighting poverty which the people live under and that there was the need for the NPP administration to hold on to it to harness the potential it has.

The New Patriotic Party won the just ended general election with an overwhelming endorsement from the citizens of Ghana and will be forming the next government which will govern the country next year.
