Education Saw Massive Improvement During My Tenure- Prez Mahama

The out-going President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has said, education has seen a major improvement under his administration which ends on January 7, 2017.

The President made this known his final “State of the Nation” address to Parliament on Thursday January 5, 2017.

According to him, his administration has ensured that, almost 2000 schools that were hitherto under trees, have been provided with school buildings and adequate infrastructure which was not the case in the past.

“My administration has ensured that almost 2000 “schools under trees” have been replaced and provided with adequate infrastructure to aid teaching and learning.”

The Out-going President mentioned that his administration instituted several policies that have ensured that Teacher Absenteeism has been minimized to its lowest level and that has positively affected the performance of students during his tenure, adding that, most rural schools now out-perform some known urban schools.

The President boasted of an improved performance in both the WASSCE and the Basic Education Certificate Examination saying, “under my tenure, students from Ghana have taken the top three spots in the WASSCE examinations”.

On tertiary education, President Mahama mentioned that his administration has established some additional public Universities to improve access to higher level of education.

President John Dramani Mahama will hand over power on January 7 to President-Elect Nana Akufo-Addo after losing the December 2016 Presidential election.
