The Acting Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin has said a letter circulating on social media indicating that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has turned down the request of former President John Dramani Mahama to keep the official residence of the Vice President is fake.

The Director of Communication in a Facebook post said: ” Please, this statement was not issued by me. it’s a complete fake. The reference number is the same as that from the statement I released on The Gambia”.

Eugene however, added that no agreement has been reached yet and that the President will reveal to Ghanaians when he addresses the country later today.

“Nonetheless, on the matter at hand, it is absolutely false that there is an agreement for the former President to “have Bungalow No.3, Prestige link, Cantoments, Accra and its adjoining facilities as his official retirement home.” No such agreement exists.”

President John Dramani’s wish to keep the residence meant for the Vice President as his official retirement residence has got Ghanaians, social media enthusiasts kicking against it because it contravenes the existing Transition Act.
