Don’t Overhaul SADA Now – NDC Cadres Caution President Akufo Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has been admonished not to rush in changing the Savanna Development Accelerated Authority (SADA) to Northern Development Authority (NDA) as indicated by the President recently.

The United Cadres Front (UCF), Upper East Region of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in a press statement expressed fears that overhauling SADA to NDA would cause “serious financial implication to the taxpayer” after a lot of work and resources has been sank into the project.

The statement signed by its regional chairman, Alagskomah Asakeya Noble and copied to a1radioonline.com is optimistic that the new leadership of SADA under Dr. Charles Abugre is in full possession to deliver and should be given adequate resources to perform.

The cadres congratulated President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on winning the December 7 presidential elections. While congratulating former President John Dramani Mahama for conceding defeat in the general elections they stated that the former’s gesture of “nationalism and patriotism” forestalled a likelihood political chaos in the country.

UCF has therefore called for a stakeholder’s conference to be held as quickly as possible to address the country’s perennial post election violence. The cadres hence appeal to all Ghanaians to support the new administration to “enable them implement their policies and programmes in order to improve the lot of Ghanaians”

UNITED CADRES FRONT (UCF) PRESS RELEASE (JANUARY 18, 2017)

CADRES CONGRATULATE PRESIDENT NANA ADDO DANKWA AKUFO-ADDO AND VICE PRESIDENT ALHAJI DR. MAHAMUDU BAWUMIA

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

The United Cadres Front (UCF), Upper East Region, wishes to congratulate President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on winning the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.

We also wish to congratulate President John Dramani Mahama for his show of nationalism and patriotism for conceding defeat. His early statement conceding defeat really averted what could have been political turmoil. By this gesture, he placed the interest of Corporate Ghana far and above his party’s interest.

Cadres also expect the President to deliver on his campaign promises which we believe will improve the lot of the masses. We also want to caution him not to rush in changing the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) to Northern Development Authority (NDA) as indicated by him recently.

Cadres believe that a lot of work and resources went into that project and more importantly the CEO, Dr. Charles Abugre and his colleagues are in full possession of their faculties. No attempt should, therefore, be made to overhaul SADA now but rather to give SADA adequate resources to be able to deliver its mandate per the Act.

The consequences of changing SADA now cannot be underestimated. It has also got serious financial implications to the taxpayer. The Cadres would want to make a humble appeal to the President to rescind his decision to overhaul SADA because it has just had its management reconstituted.

Cadres also expect the President to work towards the maintenance of the current peace and tranquility that we are enjoying in order to attract more foreign investors.

Cadres also want to use this opportunity to remind all public office holders that Probity, Accountability and Transparency are still as relevant as they were 35 years ago and should, therefore, remain the watchwords of all duty bearers since one day they will be either individually or collectively called upon to account for their stewardship to the masses.

Once again, we appeal to all Ghanaians to join hands with the incoming administration to enable them implement their policies and programmes in order to improve the lot of Ghanaians. In order to forestall future post-election violence, we ask that a stakeholders’ conference be held as quickly as possible to address the perennial post-election violence the country has continued to witness since Ghana’s return to democratic governance in 1992.

The stakeholders should include Traditional Authorities, the Interparty Advisory Committee, Representatives from the Religious Bodies, the National Peace Council, Civil Society Organisations, Party Executives at all levels, Assembly Members, Youth Groups, Associations of Persons with Disabilities, et cetera.

Let us all place the interest of Corporate Ghana far and above our personal as well as party interests because Ghana is far, far bigger than an individual or a Political Party.

We wish all Ghanaians Happy 2017 filled with enormous health and prosperity.

Long live the United Cadres Front. Long live Ghana.

Thank you.
