A member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East region, Mclean Ayamga has lauded the President’s directive to all Ministries not to purchase new cars but is skeptical about the enforcement of the directive.

Mr. Ayamga who was speaking on A1 Radio’s flagship programme, Daybreak Upper East noted that President Atta Mills gave a similar directive during his tenure but was not enforced to the latter.

He said: “the late Mills came and said they won’t buy cars and even went ahead to direct that officials who use official cars must park them in their offices and go home with their own cars. For the buying of the cars, he succeeded but for the Ministers and other appointees to park their cars at designated places and take their cars to their various homes, they didn’t succeed with that, so it is one thing calling for a good cause and another thing to ensure that the call materializes”.

The NDC Communicator, however, used the opportunity to sing the praises of the officials under the John Mahama administration who he described as responsible individuals who handled state resources with care.

“The NPP has seen that the responsible appointees of John Dramani Mahama handled the State’s resources with care and that the vehicles are strong and can be used for more years before they wear out.”
