The Regional Communication Team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has finally announced that, the total cost for the construction of Inner Cities and Zongo Development Green Pitch in Bolgatanga, is GHc499,500.00 and not $250,000.00 as stated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
On November 5, 2018, the NDC petitioned the office of the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, EOCO and the BNI to initiate investigations into the construction of the supposed multi-purpose green pitch in Bolgatanga and prosecute government actors like the former Minister for the Inner Cities and Zongo Development, Boniface Abubakar Sadique and the Contractor.
The NPP made the announcement in a Statement read by the Acting Upper East Regional Communication Director of the NPP, Issah Sanusi at a Press Conference in Bolgatanga on behalf the Communication Team.
According to Issah Sanusi, the NDC Press Conference dubbed “Constituencies Watch” in which a number of inaccuracies and falsehoods were thrown into the general public and media in Upper East Region on 5th November, 2018 was regrettable.
He said all what the NDC has done was nothing but propaganda and deliberate calculation to peddle palpable falsehood.
Issah Sanusi however, uses the opportunity to set the records straight on issues surrounding the Ministry for Inner Cities and Zongo Development project in the Bolgatanga Municipality in the Upper East Region.
“The Ministry for Inner Cities and Zongo Development has not constructed or undertaken any Astro-turf in any community in Upper East Region. For the record, the Ministry is re-constructing, greening and fencing the Bolga Mobil Park plus a borehole.
The scope of work in the contract, involves re-vegetation, fencing, reserve player seats, goal post and floor lights at a cost of GHc 499,500.00. The project does not include changing rooms, reception, or dressing room. The contract for the Project in question is in Ghana Cedis and not dollars. We therefore wish to state that, just like Bolgatanga, the Ministry has similar projects in Salaga, Yeji, Tafo and Oda.
The Ministry of Inner Cities and Zongo Development has not constructed any Astro-turf in Navrongo. The Navrongo project is solely Ministry of Youth and Sports and Wembly Sports Construction project.
The Mobil Park project is solely Zongo Ministry’s Community Recreational Project and has its own limited budget.” The Acting Communications Director said.
He stressed, that NPP is not like the NDC who in sometime past deceived the people of Bolgatanga with numerous and mouth watering projects which never materialized.
“Again it is astonishing, today, these groups of people are pretending to be speaking for the people of Bolgatanga. The NDC deceived the good people of Bolgatanga with numerous and mouth watery projects, but those projects turn out to be a fiasco. Examples of these projects include construction of Bolgatanga Sports Stadium/complex, Bolgatanga Polyclinic, Regional Hospital, Pwalungu Hydro project and others.” He stated.
