KPEMKA LOSES TEMPANE SEAT TO WIDOW OF LATE PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE

Joseph Dindiok Kpemka, incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Tempane on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has lost his seat to Lydia Akanvariba Adakudugu, widow of the late parliamentary candidate for the area, David Adakudugu.

Mr. Kpemka lost with 16,461 votes representing 44.01% as against 20,939; representing 55.99% for Madam Lydia of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr. Kpemka who doubles as a Deputy Attorney- General in the current government won the bid to represent the constituents in parliament when he polled 13,363 votes to defeat the late David Adakudugu who polled 10,697.

Following the death of her husband in September 2019 which paved for fresh primary to re-elect a new candidate, Lydia Akanvariba Adakudugu defeated two aspirants to replace her late husband, David Adakudugu, to represent the party at the December 7, 2020 polls.

During her campaign ahead of the general elections, she promised to continue with what she said were the good works of her late husband.

Meanwhile, in the presidential polls, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) got 14,013, NDC 20,660; NDP 251; GFP 250; PPP 198; GUM 173; IND. 156; PNC 130 and LPG got 107 votes respectively.

Reports of the voting process in the Tempane Constituency indicate that the polls were generally peaceful.
