Long- serving Member of Parliament (MP) Cletus Avoka has beaten the Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Frank Fuseini Adongo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Monday’s parliamentary elections to reclaim the Zebilla parliamentary seat.
A1 Radio’s Joshua Asaah reports that Mr. Avoka polled 33,616 votes while the incumbent Mr. Adongo got 15,997.
Speaking to the media shortly after being declared winner of the election, Mr. Avoka said the NPP’s Adongo was no match for him in the last 2016 elections but for some internal wrangling within the NDC at the time.

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) candidate, Benjamin Anafo, polled 842 while Karim Mahamadu Aduku of the National Democratic Party (NDP) got 174 votes.
