The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region has been described as a party in comatose. The only remedy is an effective change in leadership to a more vibrant, coordinated and visionary leadership.
These views were espoused by Dr. Moses Atinga, an aspirant for the Chairmanship position in the region.
Speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show, Dr. Atinga said “from 3 seats to one seat, that is not a good story to tell.”
“I am coming to lead this party with precision. I am coming to lead this party with accuracy,” he added.
Dr. Atinga admitted that young individuals within the party are not pleased with many of the actions of the party leader, thus, the need for change.
“They feel that they are unable to get what was due them from 2017 till date. We needed to change the narrative. That is the oxygen I am coming to give to this party,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Atinga, said the NPP’s management of the economy has been fantastic and unparalleled compared to other governments in recent political times.
Speaking on A1Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show today, May 20, 2022, Dr Atinga said the NPP took over an economy that was almost in a comatose state from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2017.
“The performance of this government has been fantastic and that is unparalleled to any other government. This government upon assuming power in 2017 inherited an economy that was almost in a comatose state. It took the skilful hands of his Excellency President Nana Akufo Addo and his team to resuscitate this economy up to 2020 when Covid struck us. That was a global disaster and that really took us back until recently when the Ukraine-Russia war came in with its repercussions. That is why we are facing a certain level of negativity within the country. But all in all, I think the managers of the economy have lived up to expectation,” he said.
