The Member of Parliament for Builsa South and Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has donated teaching and learning materials, as well as furniture, worth GHC 70,745 to eight kindergarten schools across the constituency.

The intervention aims to improve early childhood education and enhance classroom conditions for young learners.

The donation includes hexagonal tables and chairs for pupils, teachers’ desks and chairs, phonics books, wall charts, talking mat, crayons, pencils, markers, scissors, glue, A4 paper, curriculum guides, footballs, toy boxes, counters, shape sets, big books, storybooks, and numeracy kits, among other foundational teaching and learning resources.

Beneficiary schools include Suik KG, Yiniengsa KG, Doning KG, Tuedema KG, Batuisa KG, Kasiesa Yipaala KG, Bachiesa KG, and Zuagsa KG, with allocations made based on enrollment and infrastructural needs.

Speaking on behalf of the MP during the presentation ceremony at Fumbisi Senior High School, the Constituency Chairman, Mr. Caesar Akinkang, emphasized the importance of investing in early childhood education as a cornerstone for lifelong learning and national development.

“Quality education begins at the foundation level. By equipping our KG classrooms with the right tools, we are not only supporting our teachers but also giving our children the best possible start in life,” he said.

Mr. Akinkang noted that Dr. Apaak has consistently prioritized education since assuming office, adding that the MP remains committed to bridging educational gaps in underserved communities across the Builsa South District.

The District Director of Education, Mr. Richard Atigisijam Akum-Nyemi, expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the beneficiary schools, acknowledging that many kindergartens in the district have long struggled with shortages of instructional materials and basic furniture.

“This timely intervention from our MP will significantly improve the teaching and learning environment for both pupils and educators,” he remarked.

Several headteachers from the beneficiary schools described the support as a timely and transformative intervention, calling for more collaborative efforts to improve education delivery in the district.

The ceremony, attended by district officials, school heads, and representatives from the eight beneficiary schools, highlighted the collective effort driving educational improvement in Builsa South.

As the new academic year progresses, the initiative is expected to set a benchmark for constituency-led support in Ghana’s education sector.
