Legendary Highlife artiste, Amakye Dede has been made a sub-chief at Asante Akyem Agogo in the Ashanti region at a colourful ceremony held on January 1.
The honour is an appreciation for promoting Asante Akyem Agogo internationally and also for building a new hotel in the town to boost the hospitality sector and also boost tourism.
His stool name is Berima Okyeredom Amakye Dede the 1st.
The title, Okyeredom, according to Agogohene means, the Iron Boy hitmaker is a crowd-puller and exceptional singer whom through his career has won numerous accolades for himself and for Agogo.
In appreciating the honour made him, the energetic performer indicated that “I want to assure nananom that I will take my responsibility very seriously and I will do everything to uphold the dignity of this office and I will not let you down in any undertakings that I have to do”, he said.
