Covid19:7 illegal foreign sex workers arrested in UER

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) upon a tip-off,has arrested seven illegal migrants from Nigeria at Kongo in the Nabdam District of Upper East Region.

The foreigners according to GIS, are all female reported to be involved in commercial sex trade and were apprehended at their hideout in Kongo following an alarm raised by residents.

Confirming the News to A1 News , Public Relations Officer of GIS in the Upper East Region, Asp.Martin Soyeh said,the action to arrest the illegal migrants was based on the Covid19 scare in the country.

“We discovered that a group of Nigerians seven in number all female around Kongo and we took their particulars and handed them over to the Ghana Health Service” he said

He indicated that after the arrest, the illegal migrants were then released to the Ghana Health Service(GHS) for testing on Covid19 which all seven tested negative .

“The information gathered is that the seven have been tested negative . What we are currently doing is that ,we are waiting to process and repatriate them since they are foreigners and do not have the requisite documents to live in the country.” He noted.
