Health workers at the Sumburungu health facilities in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region have received a donation of seven gun thermometers worth Ghc 7000.00 from a youth group in the area.

This donation has ignited the spirit of confidence in the health professionals to work without fear of infections.

According to these Health workers, they have been relying on contact thermometers to administer clinical diagnosis of patients in the absence of non-contact thermometers, and that often exposed them to great danger of Covid19.

Midwife at one of the health facilities in the community,Madam Selina Azure explained that the unavailability of the required equipment to prevent Covid19 forced them to risk to use the temporal thermometer to check patients temperature through their armpits.

Mrs. Azure added that the initiative by the group, will encourage them to work extra hard to curb the possible spread of the virus.

“This donation will further help us to do our best because the availability of non-contact thermometers will help we and our patients observe the social distancing protocol”, she added.

The group, Sumburungu Youth and Development Association, has assured their continuous support to the health facilities.

Financial Secretary of the group, Albert Adongo, therefore, entreated the health workers to provide more education of the virus to the community members.
