The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central of the Upper East Region,Isaac Adongo has made additional supplies of items to support the fight against the deadly Covid-19 in his constituency.

The MP had already presented variety of medical logistics and promise to make additional donations to equip and boost the confidence of health workers at the various health facilities in his constituency.

Addressing media during the donation, the MP said it was his objective to ensure that the educational on the prevention and spread of Coronavirus in his constituency was intensified in other to protect the constituents from contracting the disease.

According to him, what has made the situation demanding was the President lifting ban on the partial lockdown in some cities in the country . Mr. Adongo anticipated that the directive will eventually lead to a likely spread of the disease thereby putting pressure on the health facilities.

“We as leaders must provide leadership at this very critical moment of our national history. I would like to say that, His Excellency the President having considered the challenges some of our people are going through during the lockdown, took the decision to provide some relief by lifting the partial lockdown in Accra, Kumasi and Kasoa. But that lifting of lockdown comes with its own challenges, it means the risk of the infection is now huge and therefore,we need to provide much more support better than we did before. Our brothers and sisters who were not able to come home, might use the opportunity to arrive here” he said.

According to Mr. Adongo he has already spent GHC3000 on a COVID-19 jingle for public education and advanced Ghc4500 to his COVID-19 campaign team to embark on communities sensitization.

“Unfortunately, as we continue to sacrifice to help our people, they have been some unfortunate development that has come to my attention. I have received report of people who claim that every Member of Parliament out of the 275 Member of Parliament, were given an amount of (GHC 50,000.00) Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis each to support the fight against COVID 19. I stand here to declare here and now, that I have not received a penny for the fight against COVID – 19, I am not aware of any plans by government to give GHC 50, 000.00 to Member of Parliament and as a matter of facts, I cannot believe in conjecture. All these I have delivered today and the ones I earlier delivered, with all the work that am doing directly to support the fight against COVID 19 amount to GHC 109,600.00 from own resource and my contacts and philanthropists who believed in the work that I do” he added.

Meanwhile, the Bolgatanga Municipal Health Director Edmund Nyanwura who received the items, expressed gratitude to the MP for the his intervention.

Mr. Nyanwura assured that the items presented will be used appropriately in the fight against COVID-19.
