Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama has expressed gratitude to the national executives and party supporters for supporting his nomination of Prof.Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as running mate of the party for the 2020 polls.
Addressing a meeting of his campaign team over the weekend in Accra, John Mahama said women have long proven themselves as equally qualified and capable of taking leadership positions at the highest levels, thus his choice for a gender balanced running mate.
In a press statement sighted by A1 NEWS, John Mahama reiterated that, his choice of a female running mate was to honor deserving hard working women and not tokenism.
He further stated that, the former university don deserves the running mate position by dint of her hard work and track record both as Vice Chancellor and former Education Miniter.
Mr. Mahama urged the rank and file of the party to work hard for victory in the December 2020 general election to restore leadership to the nation.
