The Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has stated that the next NDC government will not chase beneficiaries of the Covid-19 Stimulus Package to repay the money given them.
In a bid to cushion Ghana’s economy of the impact of coronavirus, government made available a stimulus package of a minimum of ¢1 billion to households and businesses, particularly small and medium scale enterprises.
But addressing chiefs and people of Doryumu on Tuesday as part of his 5 day campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region, Mr Mahama told beneficiaries of the stimulus package to disregard claims by pro-government communicators that he will chase them for the money when re-elected.
“They are giving money to traders and saying it is a loan to support your work but if you vote for us and NPP stays, we won’t collect it. But if John Mahama comes, he will collect the money back; to me I won’t collect; so any money they give you take it. It is free money; me too when I come I won’t collect it.” He said.
