General Manager (GM) of the leading rural and community bank in the Upper East Region, Naara Rural Bank, Samuel Namoog has called on the general public, especially clients of the bank to be circumspect and embrace peace before, during and after this year’s elections.

According to him, businesses can only thrive when there is absolute peace and stability in the country; hence the election should be observed as a peaceful one.

In an exclusive interview with A1 Radio, Mr. Namoog noted that the recent financial instabilities coupled with COVID-19 this year saw the closure of many financial institutions and the struggle of the country’s economy; but the situation he said could get worse should there be electoral violence.

“The recent banking cleanup exercises coupled with COVID-19 have made us see the negative impacts on our economy. We saw how our businesses were seriously affected till now. Banking institutions are virtually down. Now, the election is around the corner, if we do not maintain and ensure a peaceful election, we can not build  that prosperous future we all dream of for our children.”

Stressing on how wars and chaos in other countries have affected their economies, Mr. Namoog entreated that, “Let’s not repeat the same in our dear country. We have no other place than Ghana and we have conducted peaceful elections before. Why not now?”

He therefore called on Ghanaians to embrace peace before, during and after the election so that businesses could thrive for a prosperous future.

Touching on the performance of his outfit in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Namoog revealed that the bank has recorded an increase in its deposit base from 20 to 30 percent since December last year.

He added that during the farming seasons the bank usually experiences a decline in its deposits but this year, things have changed as its deposit base has rather grown from 38 million to 44 million.
