Some youth in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region are advocating for an end to consumption of pornographic materials; challenging their colleagues to use 2021 as a year for change.

According to them, pornographic materials are devilish tools and do not only affect one’s sexual life but contributes negatively to his or her commitment to the worship of God.

Speaking to A1 News, one Samuel Atiah explained that the more a person watches pornography, the more likely his or her sex life begins to crush as according to him, such a person will no longer feel for real sex.

Using himself as an example, Mr. Atiah said “I used to watch these videos every day to a point where I knew I was addicted to it; because a day without porno videos was an incomplete day for me. In fact, it got to a point where I was more loyal to porno videos than real sex. I struggled very hard before coming out of it.”

Raymond, another young man said “There is nothing realistic about porn sex. It only disconnects a consumer from reality.”

“This makes it hard for a consumer to have an intimate connection with a real person. You’ll only feel complete when you disconnect with porn and connect with a real person.” He noted.

Christine, a lady also said “Yes, many people may think that we ladies don’t watch such videos but majority of us do. And per what my brothers are saying, I will also use this platform to call on my colleague ladies to desist from patronizing such videos.”

She recounted that during her time at the college, she had a friend who loved watching pornographic videos; and the friend, according to her, has been addicted to pornographic materials till date.

“As I speak now, my friend always complains of not meeting the right man. But I believe the videos she feeds herself with are the cause of what she is facing.”

Meanwhile, a survey conducted by a popular pornographic site called ‘Pornhub’ in 2016 revealed that pornographic materials have become a mainstream source of entertainment to many people in society; adding that over 64 million people, visit its site daily.
