The Chief Butcher of the Butchers Association in the Bolgatanga Municipality, Tindanzor Kolduug has revealed that the new abattoir situated in the Yorogo community has been nothing but comfortable since they moved in following the back-forth they had with the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly.

In an exclusive interview with A1 News Mr. Kolduug explained that they earlier did not understand the issues but looking at how the issues were unfolding, they were left with no option but to take a bold decision to move and occupy the Abattoir.

It could be recalled that the Butchers defied the two deadlines that were given by the Assembly for them to relocate. After the failed attempts to get them to relocate, the Assembly resorted to recruiting new butchers to occupy the Ghc 1.2m Abattoir.

“It is comfortable over here, Walahi, here is better than the other place. The work goes faster here than the other place. Here we wake up earlier to come and slaughter our cattle but here is different but even get here at 6am you can even slaughter your animal and by 7:30am there is already meat in the market,” he said.

The Chief Butcher was however insistent that the distance remained an issue “but here is very spacious and can accommodate everybody Butcher. Apart from that here is very fine”.

Meanwhile, the Youth Wing of the Butchers Association in the Bolgatanga Municipality has accused the Chief Butcher, Tindanzor Kolduug of putting his own parochial interests ahead of the collective interests of the group.

According to them, the Chief Butcher was easily persuaded when he was told by the Assembly that, he was going to have an office in the new abattoir at Yorogo. They claim that this explained why he, [the chief butcher] foisted the decision of relocating to Yorogo on them. The young butchers also alleged that the Chief Butcher had been promised a monthly salary and a stake in the abattoir.
