The Member of Parliament for the Binduri Constituency in the Upper East Region, Abdulai Abanga has explained that although he would want to retain the seat in the 2024 election, he does not worry about the election. The MP said he is rather committed to furthering the development agenda of the area.

According to him, his focus only lies on how to fulfil the infrastructural needs and wants of his constituents and not amassing votes for an uncertain future.

He said “I entered into politics to get the extra support to fulfil my constituents’ needs and not to compete for power. Yes, we have some people who only compete for power, but mine is to see to the needs of that poor old lady in the house, who may probably need potable water or a well-equipped health centre to attend to, [gets it]. These and many of the reasons that forced some of us to enter into politics. So, if at the end of the day, my constituents think that I have performed to their expectations and will want to give me another mandate, they decide. But I can’t see the unforeseeable future. As in politics, a day is much of a time.”

He commented on the Day Break Upper East show on A1 Radio, with the assurance that plans were far advanced in improving the health, education, and road network of the area.

“Plans are far advanced and I must say Binduri will surely get the share of the national cake soon. In the area of health, education and the poor road network all will soon be worked on. The agenda 111 is one of the numerous things awaiting my constituents.”

Meanwhile, the MP also disclosed that Ghc 110, 000 had been spent to support 95 tertiary students in the area.

The initiative according to the MP, forms part of the “Binduri Must Develop” agenda, aimed at strengthening and developing the human capacity in the area.

Speaking on the Day Break Upper East show on A1 Radio, the MP who doubles the Deputy Works and Housing Minister noted that “I have spent a total amount of One Hundred and Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 110,000) to support 95 students pursuing various programmes of study in tertiary institutions across the country. This is geared towards strengthening the human resources of my constituents to enable them to contribute meaningfully to community and national development.”
