Fawzia Yakubu has been elected as Upper East Regional Women Organiser. She beat her only contender, the incumbent organiser, Rahinatu Haruna. Madam Yakubu polled 28 votes against 17 votes for Madam Yakubu.
Prior to the election, Madam Yakubu said her goal was to revitalise and improve the appeal of the party’s women’s branch. She went on to suggest that the women in the party’s women’s wing, rather than being merely followers, would be transformed into well-trained, resourced women who could work effectively for the party and enhance their own livelihoods.
She went on to say that she would create a united women front that would help the party recapture power at the 2024 general election.
She said this when she spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show today, October 31, 2022.
Madam Yakubu was convinced that money could not influence the direction of the election.
