The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Simon Akibange Aworigo, is confident that the NDC will retain the seat in Navrongo Central. Additionally, Mr. Aworigo explained that he has a good relationship with the outgoing MP for the area, Sampson Tangombu Chiragiaa.
The PC added that he has a lot to learn from Mr. Chiragiaa.
“We spoke yesterday. He is my Member of Parliament. He has been where I haven’t been before. I acknowledge that and give him that respect. I call him, and I reach out to him. We spoke, and he told me that he was ready to work with me to retain the seat. This thing is not about one person. It is about the party, the constituency, and the people of Navrongo Central,” he said.
Speaking to Mark Smith on the Day Break Upper East Show today, Mr. Aworigo said that because of his role as PC, he has to be accommodating to all people to help grow the party’s base.
“There is a cap on my head to ensure that, as much as possible, I reach out to everyone, including him. I have a lot to learn from him.”
Meanwhile, shortly after losing his candidature, the MP, Sampson Tangombu Chiragiaa, reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that he retains the seat.
“I pledge my unflinching support to Hon. Simon Aworigo and urge all my supporters to support him unconditionally. As we prepare for the 2024 general election, I will continue to support the constituency executive, the parliamentary candidate, to ensure that we retain the seat in the 2024 general election.”
