The Chiana-Paga Constituency Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress in the Upper East Region, Nikyema Billa Alamzy, has responded to an alleged assault accusation leveled against him during the just-ended voter registration exercise in the constituency. According to the PC, the allegation not only lacks a basis but is also immature, representing a calculated scheme to tarnish his hard-earned reputation by some members of the New Patriotic Party in the area.

It may be recalled that Mr. Nicholas Dido Kaba accused the PC of physically assaulting him during the recently concluded limited voter registration exercise.

In response to the allegation, a press release was issued and copied to A1 Radio by Hakim Nurudeen, the Aid to the PC. He indicated that Mr. Kaba’s accusation was preposterous, unfounded, and absurd and should be treated with the contempt it deserves.

Below is the full release

“SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON THE ALLEGED ASSAULT ON AN NPP AGENT BY THE HON. NIKYEMA BILLA ALAMZY.

The attention of Hon. Nikyema Billa Alamzy, the Chiana-Paga constituency NDC parliamentary candidate, has been drawn to some preposterous allegation by one Nicholas that he was assaulted by him (Hon. Alamzy).

Nicholas was an agent for the NPP in the just-ended limited voter registration exercise at the EC office in Paga. This allegation by him (Nicholas) is preposterous, unfounded, and absurd and should be treated with the contempt it deserves.

There was a confrontation between members of the NDC and NPP at the premises of the EC office in Paga. As a result of the confrontation, Nicholas was assaulted by one NDC member and not Hon. Alamzy as it has been alleged.

There were more than thirty people at the scene, including police officers and they can all, with sincerity, attest to the fact that Nicholas was not assaulted by Hon. Alamzy.

Hon. Nikyema Billa Alamzy vehemently denies this allegation, which he considers an attempt to dent his reputation, cause disaffection for him and undermine his selfless service.

We urge the general public to disregard the deliberate attempt by the NPP in the Chiana-Paga constituency to seek to generate public disaffection for the parliamentary candidate of the NDC- a man in whom the constituents have expressed their confidence and are looking forward to his visionary and decisive leadership as the next MP.

Alamzy reiterates his commitment to serving the good of the Chiana-Paga constituency as the next MP.

Thank you.

Signed

Hakim Nurudeen, an aid to the PC, Hon. Alamzy.
