Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has told delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that he remains the party’s best bet to retain the party in office after the 2024 elections. The Vice President, who is one of the NPP presidential hopefuls, intimated that he is the only candidate the National Democratic Congress (NDC) fears the most in the upcoming 2024 presidential polls.

On November 4th, 2023, the NPP Presidential contest is between the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong; former Agriculture Minister, Dr. Owusu Akoto Afriyie; and former MP for Mampong, Francis Addai-Nimoh.

But speaking to NPP delegates in the Upper East Region to climax his campaign, Dr. Bawumia said the NPP must elect a candidate who the National Democratic Congress (NDC) fears the most, who they hear or see the most. According to the Vice President, he is the only candidate among the four who gives the biggest opposition party sleepless nights.

“We are four of us contesting, and among the four of us who are contesting, it is me that the NDC fears more than anybody else. The rest of the contestants, the NDC doesn’t mind them at all. They don’t insult them, they don’t lie about them, and they don’t do propaganda about them. But when they wake up in the morning, it’s Bawumia; in the afternoon, it’s Bawumia; at night, it’s Bawumia. When they dream, Bawumia is who they dream about. Why does Bawumia give them so much headache? Why is Bawumia giving them so much pressure?”

The Vice President, who ended his campaign tour in the Upper East regional capital Bolgatanga, saw a massive crowd in attendance. Dignitaries included former and current ministers, ambassadors, Members of Parliament, former and current Municipal, Metropolitan, and District Chief Executives, national, regional, and constituency executives, among other party supporters.
