The best BECE Female Candidate Award for Wiaga Traditional Area Project, which was initiated in 2022, has been shared by two girls who scored aggregate 14 in the 2023 exams. Achaab Awontami Delphina of St Martin’s JHS and Prisca Achanglinkame of Azenab girls JHS were joint winners of the award, which consists of a chop box, a student’s mattress, provisions, stationery and toiletries.

The award ceremony was held at the premises of the two schools, where the queen mother of Wiaga, Pognab Atenglie Azenab, presented the prizes to the awardees. She also praised the teachers of the schools for their dedication and urged the students to emulate the achievements of the winners. She advised the girls to be humble, obedient and hardworking, as there are opportunities for scholarships for those who excel in senior high school. She also reminded them to keep their faith in God and avoid negative peer pressure.

The ceremony was attended by some teachers of both schools, the parents of the awardees and the queen mothers of Wiak-Longsa and Dobilinsa. The first recipient of the award in 2022 was Gloria Akande, who is currently pursuing her senior high school education.
