The Member of Parliament for the Builsa South constituency, Dr. Clement Apaak, has collaborated with the Builsa South District Education Directorate to organize a comprehensive Science and Math quiz competition for Junior High Schools (JHS) across the district.

The initiative aims to foster a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education among students within the district.

According to the legislator, the competition will kick off on February 9th, 2024 and will run until February 16th, involving 25 Junior High Schools vying for the coveted trophy.

Speaking with our reporter, Dr. Clement Apaak stressed the importance of such initiatives in preparing students for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

He emphasized the need for a holistic approach to education, incorporating engaging activities like quiz competitions to make learning more enjoyable and effective.

“The quiz competition is just one aspect of our broader strategy to enhance STEM education in Builsa South. We want to foster healthy competition and provide a platform for these students to showcase their knowledge. By doing this we hope to ignite a passion for science and mathematics,” said Dr. Apaak.

He added that the collaboration between stakeholders reflects a commitment to addressing the gaps in STEM education within the district.

Therefore, this initiative, he said, not only encourages students to excel academically but also promotes teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
