The Locked-Up Investment Holders Forum has declared its intention to commence picketing at the Ministry of Finance starting from May 15th, 2024.

The aim, they say, is to urge the Minister to allocate funds for the Bank of Ghana to revoke the licenses of insolvent finance houses and savings & loans companies and reimburse investors’ funds.

They further indicated that the planned picketing, scheduled to take place every Wednesday until November 2024 if their demands are not met.

In a press release, Dr. Adu A. Antwi, FCA, ESQ, the lead convener of the forum, stressed the urgency of their cause.

“We have informed the Police of our plan to begin picketing the Ministry from Wednesday, May 15th, 2024, to further press home our request,” he stated. “We shall be picketing the Ministry every Wednesday till the end of November 2024 if our request is not met.”

Dr. Antwi highlighted the extensive efforts made by the forum to engage with the relevant authorities before resorting to picketing.

“On April 18th, 2024, three weeks after submitting the petition to the Minister for Finance and receiving no response, we sent a reminder,” he explained. “We informed him that if we did not receive any positive response after two weeks, we would have no choice but to commence picketing the Ministry to further press home our request.”

According to him, this action they set to undertake underscores the frustration and financial hardship experienced by thousands of investors due to the collapse of these institutions.
