The Old Students Association of Bolgatanga Senior High School (TANGABISI) is preparing for the 2nd homecoming ceremony. The list of events that would characterize the homecoming have been scheduled for May 31, 2024, through to June 2, 2024.
The old students made this known when they spoke to Mark Smith on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show today, May 27, 2024.
The National President of the association, Apana Adagzina, explained that the homecoming forms part of the mission of the group.
“The group is to mobilize old students for their welfare and then also to support our alma mater. One of the ways to support our alma mater is through this homecoming,” he said.
The previous homecoming held by the group was in 2019. Raphael Doe, the Regional Organizer for TANGABISI, recalled that that event coincided with the school’s 49th speech and prize-giving day, “where we awarded students with deserving prizes along with hardworking staff of the school.”
National Secretary for the group, Martin Agebinge, explained that TANGABISI found it necessary to hold the homecoming because it serves as a platform to galvanize support for the school. Additionally, it serves as a base for old students to reconnect and network.
The 2nd homecoming would begin with a float on Friday, May 31, 2024. There would be games after the float among the houses within the school. On Saturday, June 1, 2024, there would be the ceremony with speeches from recognizable individuals, particularly the Upper East Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, who himself is a past student.
On Sunday, there would be a dinner and fundraising ceremony.
