The Coaltion of Civil Society Organizations in the savannah ecological zone has called on the Akufo-Addo led administration to reaffirm its commitment to the SADA master plan for the total transformation of the northern Savannah ecological zone in particular and the country at large.

According to the Coalition, the SADA Master Plan is not only containing the development priorities of the people from the northern savannah ecological zone but also matches perfectly with the government’s proposed agriculture and Industrialization policies.

The coalition noted that over the years, SADA has suffered budgetary allocation which has affected its operations and has stifled its efforts towards achieving its goals but said “It is the expectation of the Coalition that the new administration will increase public investment in the SADA area and also give the needed support to the current leadership of SADA to transform the area”.

They called on the government to “investigate alleged misappropriation and diversion of funds meant for the development of northern Ghana”.

The Coalition of SADA Zone Civil Society Organizations is calling on the Nana Addo led administration to reaffirm its commitment to the SADA Master Plan for the total transformation of the northern Savannah ecological zone in particular and the country at large.
This is because the SADA Master Plan is not only containing the development priorities of the people from the northern savannah ecological zone but also matches perfectly with the government’s proposed agriculture and Industrialization policies.
The SADA Master Plan developed under its current visionary leadership has all that it takes to
1.Help the Nana Akuffo Addo –led Administration achieve its proposed One Village, One Dam and One District, One Factory Policies with ease
2. Rapidly transform the northern savannah area into a place of opportunities for all Ghanaians particularly our women and girls in kayayei business and freeing it from poverty, hunger and malnutrition
3. Halt and reverse Ghana’s declining agriculture sector
4. Quicken Ghana’s steps towards achieving 6% growth rate of agriculture as required of all Africa countries under the Maputo Declaration to further the objectives of Comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Program (CAADP)
5. Reduce the impact of Climate Change on the Ghanaian economy
6. Fastrack the country’s efforts under the new administration to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Coalition also wants government investigate alleged misappropriation and diversion of funds meant for the development of northern Ghana.
It is the expectation of the Coalition that the new administration will increase public investment in the SADA area and also give the needed support to the current leadership of SADA to transform the area.
The Coalition strongly condemns the behaviour of an alleged NPP youth group that led to the closure of SADA office in Tamale. We call on government to disassociate itself from the action and condemn it.
It is important to note that but for the creative and innovative leadership of the current management of SADA, the place wouldn’t have been different from a grave yard for the reason that government has for 4 consecutive years failed to resource the authority to deliver on its core mandate.
