The state of the NPP Constituency Office after the riot at Zebilla

The New Patriotic Party in the Zebilla Constituency is in limbo, as some angry Party Youth in the Bawku West District of the Upper East region have vandalized items at their Party office and the District Assembly, over a rumor over the appointment of one Madam Victoria Ayamba, as the District Chief Executive for Bawku West District.

According to the aggrieved youth, they will not accept the nomination of Madam Victoria Ayamba as their DCE because she is not a member of the New Patriotic Party. They alleged that during the 2016 General Election campaign, Madam Ayamba was busy supporting the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with some goodies like motorbikes for their campaign, believing that the NDC was going to win the 2016 election.

“Woman cannot rule us as a District Chief Executive and even more so, the woman, Madam Victoria Ayamba, is an NDC member and so it is unwise for the President to choose such a person as District Chief Executive for this District.” The angry youth stressed.

Meanwhile, the youth declared their support for one Hon. Patrick Ayaaba, an Assembly member for the Teshie Electoral Area and a Business man, who is also among the contestants. They pleaded with the President, to choose him as their DCE, if only the President want peace in the constituency.

“Hon. Patrick Ayaaba who was sponsoring the Party in the district when the party was in opposition and even had to buy many as motorbikes to Party Executives,

Supporters and Polling Station Coordinators of the Party, to snatch power from the then incumbent Hon. Cletus Apul Avoka and the NDC” They noted.

But speaking to the Zebilla NPP Constituency Organizer, Daniel Anania Atampuba on A1 Radio’s Morning Show, “Day Break Upper East” on Wednesday, he described the incident as unfortunate.

According to him, he suspected one of the contestants, Patrick Ayaaba who wasn’t part of the meeting organized by the Regional Minister to engage all Municipal and District Chief Executive aspirants contestants. He believes that the absence of Hon. Ayaaba is what might have triggered his supporters that his name was not among the list of aspirants.

Even though, the organizer did not reveal to A1 Radio whether these Youth are Party members or not, he said, they know very well where they are coming from, and can easily identify them.

However, he said the Zebilla NPP leadership will be meeting with the securities to find lasting solution to the matter.
