Hon. Patrick Ayaaba one of the “unfortunate” aspirants of the District Chief Executive position in Bawku West District, has dissociated himself from the unfortunate vandalism that took place at Zebilla on Tuesday, April 25.

Interacting in a phone conversation on A1 Radio’s DAY BREAK UPPER EAST programme on Thursday, April 27, Hon. Patrick Ayaaba said, even though he was aware that his chances of getting the District Chief Executive position was low, he did not support or incite people to take the law into their hands to destroy and vandalize items at the Party office and District Assembly.

“I was aware that I was not going to get the position, but what happened in Zebilla, I had no hand in it and had no hint of that. On that day I was in Accra, at the invitation of the President, to tell me that, he appreciates my efforts, but he wanted to consider gender in his government, so I should feel happy. So I was happy, because the whole country, I think I’m the only one the President honored with such invitation. But before then, there was some lists going round in social media and the youth started calling me, asking whether the list was correct and I told them I don’t know.” He explained.

According to Hon. Ayaaba, he was shocked when he received the news from Zebilla, while he was still in Accra and immediately he had to call some of his boys (referring to his workers and sympathizers), to advice not engage in such act.

“Actually am not in support and I don’t know if the Police have their names, because I was not there and I cannot tell, which people did that. I have a lot of boys, over 300 boys working under me and I was even told, that it was the entire Zebilla people, both girls and boys so it will be hard to identify them if you ask me to, more so, when I was not there.” He noted.

However, Hon. Ayaaba told A1 Radio, that he had already engaged a carpenter to estimate the damage caused by these sympathizers, so as to get them repaired.

He has congratulated the DCE Nominee, Victoria Ayamba and called for amicable solution to the recent disturbance in Zebilla, so as to move on quickly to develop the Bawku West District.
