The Member of Parliament for Daffiama-Bussie-Issa (DBI) and Member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health, Dr. Sebastian Sandaare has given the assurance that when Parliament resumes, the Select Committee on Health will investigate all cases involving the breakdown, misuse and cases of logistical constraints encountered in the use of ambulances for the transportation patients.
Speaking to Samuel Speaking to Samuel Mbura on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East (DBUE), Dr. Sandaare said Parliament is interested in ensuring that all ambulances distributed under the 1 Constituency 1 Ambulance are functioning properly. Citing an instance when he had to use his official vehicle to help convey a 15-year-old pregnant girl, the Legislator admitted that there are technical and logistical gaps in the use of the ambulances, a situation that has caught the attention of Parliament.
“Some of these challenges happening nationwide will be looked at. You probably would have heard and may have discussed on your platform in another region where a pregnant woman died because of the issue of no fuel or bring money for fuel. These are not things that we should entertain,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, speaking on the same platform, Dr. Sandaare said he had received information that the 15-year old pregnant girl in Challa, who was conveyed by his official Toyota Land Cruiser V8 vehicle, had delivered and was in good health.
He noted that he was pleased to be in a position to help save the life of a pregnant girl. He explained that even more heartwarming is the fact that both mother and baby are in good health and are receiving the best of medical care at the Upper West Regional Hospital.
