The In-charge of the Out Patient Department (OPD), Nursing Division, at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, Takpier Justin, has stated that the hospital does not demand for payment of folders before treatment is given to accident victims who are brought to the facility by strangers.

Speaking on A1 Radio, Mr. Takpier explained that the hospital usually treat accident victims who are rushed in by good Samaritans till the patients recover fully and are able to connect with relatives who then make payments.

“In this case, you are considered as a good Samaritan so you do not need to buy a folder. Indicate to whoever you are handling over or you are interacting with that this is somebody I met on the road, I brought him, I don’t know him. What do I do? The nurses will take over. Whatever emergency that is needed will be given to the patient. Sometimes later, the patient will recover and will be able to tell his details, his relatives or maybe get a number to call and they will come. As for you, you do not have to buy a folder”. He stressed.

He said claims that the hospital authorities demand the immediate payment of folders for accident victims from people who only engage in the act of kindness to save lives, are untrue.

Mr. Takpier urged people to continue to assist accident victims when the need be and not hesitate to commute them to the hospital for proper and timely medical attention.
