The President’s nominee for Bongo District in the Upper East Region, Rita Atanga, has received 100 percent endorsement from members of the Assembly.

At a meeting on Friday, October 08, 2021, all 54 members of the Assembly made up of elected and government appointees voted YES in approval of Madam Atanga as District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.

The overwhelming endorsement of the nominee came after a proposal by the Assembly Members to confirm her by popular acclamation was turned down by the District office of the Electoral Commission (EC).

Madam Atanga takes over from Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga who served in the first four years of the current Government; but failed to obtain re-nominated for a second term.

She becomes the 5th to be confirmed with a 100% endorsement in the Upper East Region after Rex Asanga of Bolgatanga, Moses Akologo Amoah of Bolgatanga East, Vida Akantagriwen of Builsa North and Agnes Namoo of Nabdam who initially failed to obtain the required two-third majority in her first round.
