Boakye Yiadom, a Political Analyst says the processes so far, with regard to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Polling Station Elections could be at best described as creditable.
Speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East, Mr. Yiadom said it would have served the party better if the grievances of persons and groups who feel slighted had been handled out of the public eye.
“All these things that are happening inhouse, it is within the party. A party that has got not less than 7 million followers you would not expect that all of them would agree on the same issue. When an issue comes, there will be some disagreements here and there. This should have been something that is simple but some people will make it more complicated,” he said.
He said the obvious challenges going into the processes were that some executives were going to hide some of the nomination forms, others were going to give it to people that were their favourites. Mr. Yiadom was quick to add that “thank God that it has not been recorded countrywide. All the 275 Constituencies, only a few of them are having such challenges and the challenges too are being solved here and there”.
Mr. Yiadom said for the Election Coordinators who had deliberately hidden some of the forms so as to allow only their preferred candidates the opportunity to contest, could have the situation seriously backfire. This, the Political Analyst said could affect the fortunes of the party.

Meanwhile, Johnson Ayine, Deputy Upper East Regional Communications Director for the NPP has admitted that the party may have underestimated the interest in the Polling Station Election and as such, may not have floated enough nominations forms around the country.
This, Mr. Ayine said could have resulted into the disturbances that have been recorded in parts of the country. It could also be the reason why some aggrieved persons have levelled allegations against some Constituency and Regional Executive Committee members.
He was speaking on the same platform.
