Eight people were successfully vetted for the NDC’s primaries in the Talensi constituency of the Upper East Region.

They are Dickson Kurug Kpelim-Etime, Peter Badimak Yaro, Zinekena Solomon TTB, Awunnore Edward, Rockson Aditiba, Daraan Kugre Nathaniel, Atiah Martin Aduko, and Daniel Mahama Dung.

Initially, nine people picked up forms to contest the primaries after the incumbent MP’s decision to discontinue his interest in the seat.

The Talensi NDC Constituency Secretary, Augustine Mmi-oni Guure, who spoke with A1 Radio’s Mark Smith, commended the candidates for their show of civility during their campaign.

“So far, so good. We haven’t seen or heard of any major issues. When they meet the delegates, it is about what they can do for the delegates. You see, the delegates are discerning. They are not looking to listen to issues about other people. They want the candidates to tell them what they can do for them. That is what we want,” he said.

One of the candidates, 44-year-old Daniel Mahama from the Zubeong community in the Talensi District, has indicated that issues of youth unemployment, improved healthcare, and women’s and children’s empowerment need improvement in the area.

“The majority of the youth here in Talensi have various degrees yet are not employed. It is an issue that I’m taking note of. Women and children’s empowerment also need to be looked at. So, all these are areas that I will be working on when allowed to represent the party as its parliamentary candidate.”

“It is all about service to mankind. Serving the good people of Talensi, nothing more, nothing less.”

Solomon TTB Zinekena, the immediate past Constituency Secretary for the NDC in the Talensi, said this when he spoke to A1 Radio’s Mark Smith on the Day Break Upper East Show about his interest in leading the NDC to the 2024 parliamentary election.

Mr. Zinekena explained that as a party fellow, he had dedicated all he had to the growth and development of the NDC in the area and hoped to do even more for the party and the people of the area, should he be elected as Parliamentary Candidate and subsequently, MP for the area, thus, succeeding the current MP, BT Baba.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been the party of choice for young people. This is because the party has always given young people the opportunity to contribute to policy and help grow the party.

A 42-year-old accountant, Dickson Kurug Kpelim-etime, one of the eight parliamentary aspirants for the NDC in the Talensi constituency, said this when he spoke to A1 Radio’s Mark Smith on the Day Break Upper East Show.

He was speaking about the seeming heightened interest of the youth in the upcoming parliamentary primaries for the NDC, slated for May 13.

An aspiring parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Talensi constituency has pleaded with delegates of the party to vote for a candidate who is experienced and has what it takes to change the face of Talensi. A former District Chief Executive for Talensi, Edward Awunnore, who is in the NDC race, said he has demonstrated that he is capable of bringing development to the people of the constituency.

“And so, I plead with delegates that on May 13th, they should vote for Hon. Edward Awunnore for more development and more of the things that the good people of Talensi are yearning for.”
