President John Dramani Mahama’s visit to the Upper East Region as part of his #Accountingtothepeople tour on June 6 has been cancelled because there is nothing in the region to account for, a deep throat source has disclosed to a1radioonline.com.

According to the source, the party executives after deliberating on the itinerary of the  President for the three-days visit to the Region reached a conclusion that it was in the best interest of the party in the region to cancel the visit.

The President was expected like he did in other parts of the country to commission major projects and also to inspect on-going projects which have reached an appreciable stage.

But the source who spoke to a1radioonline.com disclosed that as of now, the only projects which have been completed are a few boreholes and some toilet facilities in the Bawku Technical School whiles major projects like roads and the fencing of the Bolgatanga Technical Institute haven’t reached appreciable stages worth inspecting.

It could be remembered that the President last year during his #ChangingLives #TransformingGhana tour to the Upper East promised giving a face-lift to roads in the Regional Capital and also providing Bolgatanga with 14km road development which as of now haven’t been provided.

The President, last two years at the 27th annual SAMANPIID festival celebrated by the people of the KUSUAG people in the Bawku Municipality promised the chiefs and people of Bawku to “fix” the Bolgatanaga-Bawku roads before his next visit.

In 2014 these were the words of the president as he promised work on the Bolgatanaga-Bawku road, “I want to promise you that the next time I come to Bawku the road between Bolga and Bawku will not be the main issue,” he said while assuring that “we are going to make major progress on that road.”

“As soon as I go back to Accra, I am going to speak to the road minister and you will see for yourselves the difference that will take place,” but two years on, that promise has not seen the day of light.
