Former Second Deputy speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Ocquaye, has said the New Patriotic Party’s overwhelming victory in the just ended election is an indication that Ghanaians yearn for an improvement in their lives.

According to him, the party does not see their victory as a period to jubilate but rather work, because the overwhelming endorsement means the people were not satisfied with the incumbent government hence gave the NPP a chance to work to change things.

He noted that the Ghanaian voter is gradually becoming discerning and failure of government to deliver on its promises in improving the lives of the people means that the government will be voted out.

“It is not just a matter of just jubilating, it is a matter of service time. Honestly, dutifully, professionally we must perform and that to me is the real core of our mandate. If you fail to perform, you will be punished so we intend to work for Ghanaians,” Prof. Ocquaye told host of Day Break Upper East, Azongo Albert.

Prof. Ocquaye noted that Ghanaians currently do not want grandiose projects when the basic things including proper health care, education are lacking adding that the NPP will revive the NHIS to make it work to the satisfaction of the people and the school feeding program which has an influence in the attendance in school.

Prof. Ocquaye mentioned that in doing so, the NPP will always consider what is important for the majority of the people instead of what they as a party think is important.

He indicated that Ghanaians expect the NPP to deliver honestly and that is what the party is currently working at doing.
