The Board Chairman for Accra Hearts of Oak, Togbe Afede XIV, has given in-form Mahatma Otoo a two-week ultimatum to decide on his fate with the club, A1 Radio understands.
Otoo, who is a joint top scorer in the Ghana Premier League, has barely two months left on his contract with the Phobians and per the Fifa rules, a player is allowed to negotiate with any club with less than six months left on his existing contract.

The outgoing regional police commander of the Upper East region, DCOP Bright Oduro has expressed worry over the number of land disputes in the region.
According to him, land disputes which have the propensity to degenerate into violence during the farming seasons have existed in so many communities in the region but this he said the police together with Regional Security Council have done their best to contain the situations in those communities.
He expressed the worry at a send off party organized to goodbye him as he leave the region for Accra. On the area of armed robbery in the region, the outgoing police commander said when he took over office in 2009, a total of thirty six cases were experienced but the police have been able to reduce the incidence to eight, three and one in 2010, 2011 and 2012 respectively.
The reduction he said was the result of proactive interventions put in place by the police. DCOP Bright Oduro therefore urged his successor, DCOP Alex Quianoo to maintain the momentum and particularly end the spate of robbery between Nangode and Tilli which remains a threat to road users.
Meanwhile the acting Upper East regional minister, Alhaji Limuna Muniru also urged police personnel in the region to live above reproach and rather works hard to maintain law and order. ‘It is sad to note that very often than not we hear from the mass media of allegations of some police personnel involve in some criminal activities such as armed robbery, aid smuggling of uncustomed goods, money laundering etc.
Please remain committed and discharge your duties professionally. This goes along to tarnish the image of the police service and also erode the confidence and credibility the public has in the service’, he added.
In a wake of strike actions by doctors in the country, Acting Registrar of Nurses and Midwives Council of Ghana Felix Nyante has described strike actions by health service personnel as abomination saying the lives that will be lost as a result of the strike actions cannot be replaced.
The Acting Registrar of Nurses and Midwives Council of Ghana said this at a joint matriculation of health service trainees of five health training institutions in the region held at the Health Assistance Training School in Zuarungu over the weekend.
“Certain times you think you deserve to be given something and government says wait, let’s go to the round table and negotiate and you don’t have the patience and went on strike and as a result of your strike actions somebody’s father dies, somebody’s breadwinner dies’.
“Then in three week time government says the monies that you were requesting for has been avail to you, it is now in your bank account”. “You see that you do not have that power to go back to cemetery to bring back the lives that were lost as a result of your strike”.
“And certain times through our actions we kill people illegally and they don’t do anything to us’. The Upper East Regional Director of Health Services Dr. John Koku Awoonor-Williams also cautioned the nurse trainees to consider nursing as a profession than being perceive as an easy way of securing a job.
He said when trainees regard this perception; it often leads to poor customer care and clinical practice standards. Acting Upper East Regional Minister Alhaji Limuna Mohammed- Muniru said government is committed to improving the educational infrastructure through the provision of modern libraries equip with computers, lecture halls, staff bungalows, dormitories, to raise the standard of education in consonance with current global challenges.
In all, a total of 646 health trainees from the Bolgatnga Nurses Training College, Bawku Presbyterian Nurses’ Training College, Navrongo Community Health Nurses’ Training College, Bolgatanga Midwifery Training College, Zuarungu Health Assistance Training School were matriculated.
The Member of Parliament for Talensi constituency of the Upper East Region, Robert Mosore Doameng, has assured his constituents he will not discriminate against any of them in supporting them towards the development of the area.
He gave this assurance at a gathering to thank the people of Talensi constituency for their enormous support which led to his victory in the 2012 general elections. The New Patriotic Party soft-spoken Member of Parliament stated that he would make a difference in the constituency in his four year term to the admiration of his constituents.
Mr. Doameng called on his constituents to give him the necessary maximum cooperation to enable him achieve his plans for the constituency. He also stated that, he will work tirelessly with the assembly to support people in the area with water, electricity and also take care of the educational needs of deprived students in the area with his common fund irrespective of party lines.
According to him discrimination retards development and that he is ready to support any student seeking assistance in his constituency. ‘Anybody who knows me well knows me as a person who does not like discrimination by nature. I am a person who does not encourage gossip and backbiting and to that effect I do not discriminate because I am in a certain party.
All the people in this constituency are people of the constituency and party membership could be at any point in time party A or party C. You do not need to discriminate because I have seen people who were in different parties but have defected to other parties and others going back to those parties, so why do you discriminate to developing people.
That style maybe was used by others but I am not going to use that style at all, everybody who has a chance to do something of which I can support, I will willingly and whole heartedly support regardless of which party you belong’.
Mr. Doameng who is hopeful that the New Patriotic Party will win the election petition in court cautioned his constituents against unnecessary arguments about the court case which has the tendency of dividing them.
MEMBERS OF the Konkomba community in the Upper East Regional have underscored the urgent need for all Konkombas to use education to rebrand themselves and let the world know they are not violent as they have been portrayed in sections of the media or perceived by some people.
By rebranding, members want all Konkombas to take education seriously through which they can dismiss the perceived notion that they are violent and war mongers. According to them, due to lack of education, a lot of negative things had been said of Konkombas in the past which were not true but due to the fact that they could not correct the wrong impression that had been created about them.
Members said this at the inauguration of the Bolgatanga Polytechnic’s chapter of Konkomba Students’ Union (KONSU) held on Saturday at Sumbrungu near Bolgatanga.
Speaker after speaker, mainly opinion leaders, regretted that Konkomba as a tribe is often associated wrongly with conflict and violence especially in the media and in order for the wrong impression to be corrected, parents must endeavour not only to send their children to school but must also invest in their education from the basic to the tertiary level.
They emphasised the need for girl child education which they said has not been given the needed attention in‘Kiikpakpaaln’ (land of Konkombas). According to them, some parents still prepare to give their daughters out for marriage to sending them to school while others remove their daughters from school and give them out for marriage.
They condemned the practice and advised parents to bring an end to it because most of the Konkomba girls who have been given little push in school by their parents have performed well academically. They however admitted a few also disappointed their parents by toying with their education by dropping out.
Mr. Reuben Jagri Binpori, one of the opinion leaders at the function who first raised the issue of rebranding stated that “it’s God who made us Konkombas and so let’s work hard to erase all the wrong impressions about our tribe”.
He was not happy that in spite of the fact that Konkombas are the second largest tribe in the Northern Region with 11 MPs, only one of them was given a ministerial appointment in the current Mahama’s administration which was not even a cabinet position.
Mr. Naada John, Upper East Regional Manager of the Wild Life Division of the Forestry Commission who chaired the inauguration ceremony, encouraged Konkombas not to hide their identify for any reason.
He reminded the students to be discipline and study hard to accomplish their main aim of achieving academic laurels. This way, they will get jobs after school and also go back home to support their parents and younger ones make it in life.
As part of the move to unit all Konkombas in the Upper East Region, members have hinted of the formation of the Upper East Chapter of Konkomba Youth Association (KOYA).
The President of KONSU, Mr. Philp Mabimba in his speech praised his colleagues to their level of maturity and good behaviour on campus and urged them to keep it up. He stated that as a new union, their major challenge was finance and appealed to leaders of the tribe to assist the union financially to enable it grow.
Out of a total of 31 members who formed B-Poly branch of KONSU, only one female is among. This obviously speaks of why the opinion leaders want Konkomba parents to give equal chance and support to the daughters like their sons to also go and succeed in school.
Mr. James Anaba Akologo, acting Patron of the Union lauded the comportment of the students and campus and urged them to keep it up. He also wants them to focus on their books because this was the only way they could pass all their examinations.

HUMAN AND vehicular movements came to a standstill on Sunday evening at about 7:00pm when an articulated truck ran over a 22-year-old woman killing her instantly on the Bolgatanga-Zuarungu stretch of the Bolgatanga-Bawku highway.
The Upper East Regional Commander in charge of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit of the Ghana Police Service, ASP Daniel Kwao Tey who confirmed the incident said the deceased, Azure Adongo was been ridden on a motorbike by a young man on the way from Bolgatanga towards Zuarungu when the accident occurred.
He explained that after Timber Market, the rider who picked the woman overtook an articulated truck without observing if there was oncoming vehicle. In the process, he collided with another motorbike from the opposite direction.
The Police Commander said the woman slipped under the articulated and the truck overran on her upper body. Her liver, heart, womb and intestines all gushed out and she died instantly. He rider sustained a fracture but the other rider and his pillion rider escaped with only bruises.
The body Azure has been deposited at the Regional Hospital Mortuary while the injured rider is on admission at the same hospital.
The articulated truck with registration number GR 4871 X was impounded by the MTTU for the driver to assist in investigations. Our investigations showed that the deceased woman was a relative of the owner of the articulated truck.
According to ASP Kwao, 14 persons died during the first quarter of this year as a result of road crashes. Though he said last year’s statistics showed that 15 persons died during the first quarter as compared with 14 this year, there was the need for all stakeholders to approach road crashes with all seriousness.

Managing Director of Graphic Communications Group Limited, Kenneth Edem Ashigbi, has said that, the issue of late arrival of its newspapers in the Upper East Region will soon be a thing of the past.
The Managing Director gave this assurance on Thursday, in Bolgatanga, at a get-together sitting for its vendors and agents. He urged the vendors to come out with strategies for an increased sale in the region.
Mr. Ashigbi further assured vendors of Graphic’s newspapers and readers that by the end of April, a vehicle would be allocated to pick the newspapers from Tamale immediately they arrive by air to end the current situation of vendors and agents selling ‘dead’ newspapers to readers.
According to him, the Graphic Communications Group Limited hopes to register its vendors and agents with the National Health Insurance Scheme, in order to enable them access health service whenever they fall sick.
He was also not happy about the fact that vendors and agents do not take advantage of the Graphic Scholarship Scheme and called on them to take their children’s education seriously in order to enable them benefit from the scheme.
Mr. Ashigbi also tasked reporters for the newspaper to write more reports about the Upper East Region in order to increase the sales of the papers in the region.
The chief of the Gambibgo traditional area, Naba Anun-egra Akolmolga Adakpea, has made a passionate appeal to government and authorities concerned to construct a bridge over a river that cuts off the community and other nearby communities from the Bolgatanga township.
He made this appeal during a durbar on Thursday; to officially unveil an ultramodern building for his administrative works.
According to him, during the rainy seasons, many people including the aged fall in the river and sustain various forms of injury which sometimes lead to the loss of lives and other valuable properties.
He further said that because relatives are not well in tuned of what to do when a relative is drown they proceed with the burial ceremony without getting the appropriate authorities or bodies informed which he believes goes a long way to shield their problem from the authorities.
Naba Anun-egra also called on the people of Gambibgo to desist from indiscriminate sale of land in other not to render their future generations homeless, and urged parents to take serious, the education of their children.
The assemblyman for the area, Ayinbila Abubakar Atera, charged members of the community both in and outside, to make the development of the community a priority.

Highly competitive as ever; this year’s edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is bound to be though and challenging as to who wins what, and in which category, we are yet to determine.
After the release of the nomination list, the name commandeering the airwaves is none other than the duo- R2bees. They are currently topping the list with seven nominations; credit to their ‘Life (walaahi)’ and ‘Bayla Trap’ songs released this year.
In an exclusive interview with DJ Lexis on A1 Radio’s Drive Time program, the duo revealed that the nominations came not as a surprise to them because they knew what really went into cooking the songs and were very optimistic they would sweep away all the awards they are nominated for.
Mugees said: “Our song deserves an award looking at what went into it; we have no doubt of clenching the awards we find ourselves.”
The Tema-based duo further stated that they are putting plans in place to organize a thank you tour should they be crowned with the artist of the year award.
They also used the opportunity to solicit for votes from their funs especially those from the northern part of the country, since that is where they hail from.
This triggered the interviewer to question them, as to, whether they are depending on the tribal system of voting in other to achieve their target, Mugees, responded with a big No!
“No! We are not depending on that because we are from the north, but simply because we deserve to win the award and we have convinced our funs enough that we deserve it and we are certain on winning it.”
For now, the big question lingering in the minds of most Ghanaians is either R2bees would win the sympathy of the voters or not, time I think, will tell.
